Rebecca Nakatudde

Ms. Rebecca Nakatudde is a Lecturer, Department of Radiology and Radiotherapy, Makerere University and Radiation Safety officer Mulago Hospital. She holds a Bachelor of Science with Education degree (physics, mathematics) from Makerere University Uganda attained in 2000, a Master of Science degree in Medical Physics from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa attained in 2009 and working on her PhD in collaboration with the IOMP.

She is a Schlumberger Faculty for the future alumni 2007 to 2009. She has subsequently pursued and facilitated in a number of specialized training courses under the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and she is the outgoing project coordinator of RAF/9/048 “Strengthening Education and Training Infrastructure, and Building Competence in Radiation Safety (AFRA) “. She is a visiting Lecturer at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST)– Uganda and Ernest Cook Ultra Sound Research and Education Institute (ECUREI)-Mengo. She also served as the Head of Physics Department, Kampala International University (2002-2004). She has carried out several types of research, supervised physics, radiography, and radiology students and published several papers.

She has presented several papers at national and international Conferences like African International Radiation Protection Association Regional Congress (AFRIRPA), African Radiation Oncology Group (AFROG), International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA) Conference and International Conference on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering (ICMP) .

She is the Director of REDO Radiation Protection and Dosimetry Consultancy Services. A Consultancy firm offering compliance services to users of radiation in Uganda. She is the current Treasurer of the newly formed Uganda Medical Physics Association (UMPA). She served as a Board member on the Uganda Allied Health Examinations Board (UAHEB) representing public universities in Uganda (2010-2017); Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC) as Member and Secretary to Radiography Board, Committee member of PRC of the International Organization of Medical Physicists (IOMP), Outgoing Vice President of the Federation of African Medical Physics Organization (FAMPO).

She is a member of International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA), East African Association of Radiation Protection (EAARP), African Radiation Oncology Group (AFROG), Uganda Society for the advancement of Radiology and Imaging (USOFARI) and a Life Member of the Uganda Red Cross Society
