Makerere University College of Health Sciences proudly congratulates Dr. Annettee Nakimuli, Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Dean of the School of Medicine, on receiving a prestigious award from the International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (FIGO).

She received the honor on 6th October 2025 during the FIGO General Assembly and Congress held in Cape Town, South Africa.

Professor Nakimuli is a leading maternal health researcher whose work focuses on the aetiology, treatment, prevention, and long-term outcomes of pregnancy complications among women in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Her passion extends beyond research to building maternal and newborn health research capacity across Africa. Working closely with East African and international collaborators, she aims to establish a multidisciplinary Centre for African Maternal and Neonatal Health Research at Makerere University — a vision that underscores her commitment to advancing health equity for mothers and babies.
