Summary of Overall Project Objective: The project goal is to improve the health outcomes of individuals with SCD disease in Uganda through implementation of evidence-based interventions.
What are the major goals of the project?
The major goals of the project include the following;
1)To develop a centralized, electronic, patient consented haemoglobinopathy registry at Mulago National Referral Sickle Cell Clinic.
2)To improve SCD patient outcomes in Uganda by establishing regional SCD standards of care in three priority areas;– Health Maintenance and preventive chemotherapy, Screening for complications and Managing acute complications.
3)To advance SCD related research by conducting cohort studies and implementation science studies on patients enrolled in the SCD registry.
