Mwesiga Humphrey at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden

Makerere University College of Health Sciences is pleased to highlight the participation of Mr. Mwesiga Humphrey Favour, a medical student, in an international exchange program at Karolinska Institutet (KI), Stockholm, Sweden, conducted from 23 August to 25 October 2025.

The exchange, supported by the Erasmus+ Program, aimed to enhance clinical training, academic exposure, and international collaboration between Makerere University and Karolinska Institutet. During the program, Mr. Mwesiga undertook clinical rotations in Oncology, Plastic Surgery, and Vascular Surgery, gaining valuable hands-on experience in patient care, multidisciplinary teamwork, and modern clinical practices. A key highlight was participation in palliative care services, including community and home-based care, which strengthened his understanding of holistic and patient-centered care.

Beyond academics, the program provided opportunities for cultural engagement and institutional networking, including participation in official student events and activities marking 25 years of collaboration between Makerere University and Karolinska Institutet.
