Makerere University, in collaboration with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), invites applications for PhD Student Fellowships in Health Data Science under the Harnessing Health Data Science (H-DATA) Research Training Program.
The H-DATA program is funded by the NIH Fogarty International Center and aims to strengthen evidence-based interventions, policy, and responses to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Uganda through advanced health data science approaches, including artificial intelligence and machine learning.
The fellowship supports full-time PhD training for up to three years, with structured mentorship and opportunities for advanced didactic training at UCSF. Research themes include HIV risk stratification, treatment outcomes, digital medicine, HIV-related NCD comorbidities, and health systems analytics.
