Makerere University School of Medicine (MakSOM) is one of the leading medical schools in Uganda and East Africa. Established in 1924, it is part of Makerere University, Uganda’s oldest and largest public university. The school is dedicated to improving health in Uganda and beyond by providing quality education, research, and health services.
MakSOM offers a variety of programs, including the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), which aims to produce graduates with the competencies needed to address health needs at individual, family, and community levels3. The curriculum emphasizes student-centered learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
