The Makerere University College of Health Sciences (MAKCHS) Research and Writers’ Club (RWC) has released the first edition of its Weekly Newsletter, focusing on epilepsy awareness, care, and advocacy in Uganda.
This inaugural issue features a message from Professor Richard Idro, highlighting the burden of epilepsy in Uganda, addressing common misconceptions, and emphasizing the importance of timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment. The newsletter calls on individuals, institutions, and medical students to translate knowledge into action through advocacy, education, and community support.
The edition also marks International Epilepsy Day, observed on 9 February 2026, a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness and supporting people living with epilepsy.
Through this publication, MAKCHS RWC reaffirms its commitment to promoting scientific literacy, health advocacy, and student engagement on critical public health issues.
