The “HIV-BAL” study is a grant awarded to Makerere University College of Health Sciences by the National Institutes of Health and Forgarty International Center (Grant Number: R21TW012354 ). It is aimed at investigating the crosstalk between Lung microbiome and immune responses in the distal airways of people with COPD in a viremically controlled Ugandan HIV cohort using bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL). Understanding the relationship between lung microbiome and orchestrated immune responses in the distal airways of individuals with HIV (PLWH) and COPD will provide insight into the role of lung microbiome and mechanisms of COPD among PLWH. The study is soliciting applications from suitably qualified Individuals for a position of a data manager.
Roles:
- Establish project timelines and responsibilities, track project status, and communicate progress related to Data Management activities.
- Review and approve data management-related documents including case report forms, data management plans, data transfer specifications, coding standards, line listing review plans, data validation plans, clinical study reports, and any other related documents.
- Monitor clinical data quality; drive corrective actions as needed; ensure proper integration of third-party/non-CRF data as applicable.
- Oversee all data management activities leading to the final delivery of a clean clinical database for clinical study reports, publications, and regulatory submissions.
- Review clinical investigation protocols and other clinical research documents for identification of data collection needs and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain clinical data management plans, CRF completion guidelines, data handling guidelines, and other study support documentation.
- Provide electronic data capture user system administration, ensuring consistent processes and appropriate training documentation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain data listings, summary tables, and report specifications for data cleaning, data review activities, and study metrics
Qualifications & Skills: Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, and Computer science. Additional: Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Public health or Epidemiology is an added advantage. Knowledge of regulatory requirements & Good Clinical Practices (GCP). Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
