Call for Applications: Integrated HIV/HTN Project Training

The Integrated HIV/HTN project is excited to announce a call for applications for a unique training opportunity in the Fundamentals of Implementation Science. This five-year program, funded by the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) and implemented by a consortium of institutions led by the Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC), aims to improve health outcomes among HIV-infected persons, particularly in reducing hypertension-related morbidity and mortality.

Program Details:

In collaboration with the University of Washington (UW), the Integrated HIV/HTN project and the Makerere University Implementation Science program (Mak-ImS) will train selected candidates in an 11-week course on the Fundamentals of Implementation Science. This course aims to equip project stakeholders and health professionals with the skills and knowledge to translate evidence into practice.

Expectations for Participants:

  • Online Lectures: Access to comprehensive learning materials including videos, audios, and articles.
  • Weekly Group Discussions: Interactive sessions via Zoom, facilitated by mentors from Makerere University and IDRC.
  • Networking: Opportunities to connect with Implementation Science experts.
  • Interactive Sessions: Engagements with UW faculty and international participants.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Minimum academic qualification of a diploma in Health Sciences or related biomedical science training.
  • Active involvement in biomedical research.
  • Clear intention to pursue a career in Implementation Science.
  • Faculty members, researchers, managers, or staff on research projects/programs are highly encouraged to apply.

Application Instructions:

Interested candidates should submit their applications merged into a single PDF document not exceeding 5MB. The application should include:

  • A concept note of at most 2 pages on a priority public health problem (e.g., Malaria, HIV, TB, Hypertension, CV)
  • A CV with one referee who is aware of the candidate’s academic or professional background.

Certificate:

At the end of the course, trainees will receive a University of Washington Certificate in Fundamentals of Implementation Science.
