Clinical Rotations Abroad for 4th Year Medical Students (2025)

Makerere University College of Health Sciences (MakCHS), School of Medicine, invites 4th Year medical students to apply for clinical rotations abroad under established student exchange programmes with partner institutions.

Selected students will participate in observational clinical placements within diverse international healthcare systems. Upon completion of the rotations, students will be required to return to Makerere University to fulfill all academic requirements leading to the award of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).

Eligibility Criteria

Students who meet the criteria below are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • A minimum CGPA of 3.6 on normal academic progress (no retakes)

  • Academic references

  • A current Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • A thoughtfully written personal statement

  • Added advantage for students vaccinated against MMR, Varicella, DPT, Yellow Fever, and Hepatitis B (vaccination cards must be submitted)

  • Northwestern University, USA – Partial funding (Student contribution: Vaccinations)

  • Magna Graecia University, Italy – Fully funded (Student contribution: Vaccinations)

  • Des Moines University, USA – Partial funding (Student contribution: Airticket and Vaccinations)

  • University of Cambridge, UK – Fully funded (Student contribution: Vaccinations)

  • University of Minnesota, USA – Partial funding (Student contribution: Airticket and Vaccinations)

  • Medical University of Graz, Austria – Fully funded (Student contribution: Vaccinations)

  • Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Italy – Fully funded (Student contribution: Vaccinations)

Expressions of interest were submitted to the International Coordination Office (MakCHS) either in person or via email.
