THRiVE (Training Health Researchers into Vocational Excellence in East Africa) invites you to an exciting edutainment dissemination event happening at the National Theatre on July 15 2022 between 9AM – 1:30PM. This event is a grand finale of three years’ community and public engagement activities showcasing student-led health awareness products such as skits, songs, poems and comic drawings. Students from five schools will present their products and these are: Midland High School-Kawempe; Jovens High School and Mugezi Secondary School in Entebbe; Iganga Girls SS and St. Aloysius Secondary School in Nabbingo.
Under the stewardship of THRiVE Ph.D. and Postdoctoral fellows, students in the different schools were mentored to identify suitable ways of creating community awareness on aspects arising directly from fellows’ research. The engagement between researchers and students was dubbed, ‘Research Enrichment Community and Public Engagement’ and it aimed to bridge the gap between scientists and the ordinary public such as students in order to facilitate research uptake and use.
Going forwards, these products will be used as awareness and education tools on various health issues such as Tuberculosis; Asthma; Maternal and Child Health and the Zika Virus.
