Makerere University Hospital is thrilled to announce the official launch of the Olink Proteomics Platform — a first-of-its-kind in East and Central Africa, marking a groundbreaking step forward in Uganda’s pursuit of research-driven healthcare innovation.

🚀 This state-of-the-art platform places Uganda at the forefront of advanced biomarker research, unlocking new possibilities for early disease detection, improved treatment, and long-term health monitoring across the African continent.

🧬 What is Proteomics?
Using Olink’s cutting-edge technology, scientists can detect tiny molecules in blood and body fluids that serve as early warning signs for diseases. This game-changing capability enables earlier detection and better understanding of conditions like:

  • Pre-eclampsia (pregnancy-related high blood pressure)

  • Cancer

  • HIV & Tuberculosis

  • Malaria

  • Cardiovascular diseases

  • Diabetes

  • Emerging & re-emerging infectious diseases
