The aim of this Symposium is to enable us to take a look at Health Professions Education (HPE), the past, the present and future in Uganda. Makerere and Uganda have a long and distinguished history in this field in the African region and globally. In the quest to keep abreast of emerging issues and new trends in a globalised world, HPE approaches seek to balance service delivery with teaching and research as the three legs of the stable African stool and foundations of HPE.
