Fundamentals of Implementation Science Course

Makerere University School of Medicine in Collaboration with UW, Mak-ImS, MJAP, and IDRC

Makerere University School of Medicine, in partnership with the University of Washington (UW), the Makerere University Implementation Science Program (Mak-ImS), MJAP, and IDRC, is inviting applications for the 2025 Fundamentals of Implementation Science Course.

This 11-week course will train 40 selected candidates in key principles of Implementation Science and support their capacity to contribute to evidence-based health interventions.


βœ… Participants Will Be Expected To:

  • Attend online lectures and access implementation science materials including learning videos, audios, and articles.

  • Join weekly group discussions via Zoom, guided by mentors from Makerere University.

  • Network with experts in Implementation Science within the local health setting.

  • Participate in online interactions with University of Washington faculty and international peers.


πŸŽ“ Certification

At the end of the course, trainees will receive a University of Washington Certificate in Fundamentals of Implementation Science.


πŸ‘€ Who Should Apply?

Eligible applicants should:

  • Hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline, social science, or behavioral science.

  • Be actively involved in research or working in university settings, research projects, or programs.

  • Be committed to pursuing a career in Implementation Science.

Faculty, researchers, project managers, and staff involved in public health or research programs are highly encouraged to apply.

Submit a single PDF file (max 5MB) containing:

  • A concept note (max 2 pages) on a public health priority such as Malaria, HIV, or Non-communicable Diseases.

  • Your CV with one referee familiar with your academic or professional background.
