Makerere University’s Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, in collaboration with the School of Medicine, College of Health Sciences, is excited to announce a new opportunity for healthcare professionals through the “Enhancing Research Capacity for Sickle Cell Disease and related Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) across the lifespan in Uganda (ENRICH) Project.” This initiative is designed to bolster national capacity for high-quality research and health system developments in managing Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and related NCDs.
About the Course
The short course is specifically structured to address the complexities of SCD and related NCDs, aiming to provide comprehensive training and insight into these critical areas of public health. The training is a hybrid format, delivered through a mix of face-to-face and online sessions, making it accessible to a broader range of professionals across Uganda.
This second phase of the project will particularly focus on equipping 20 Paediatricians, Medical Officers, Nurses, and other health workers currently active in Sickle Cell clinics around the country with the latest knowledge and techniques in SCD management.
Course Objectives
- To Enhance Research Capabilities: Equip participants with advanced research skills specific to SCD and NCDs.
- To Develop Health Systems: Foster improvements in health systems that support the management of SCD and related disorders.
- To Promote Lifespan Approaches: Address treatment and management strategies that span the lifecycle, from infancy through adulthood.
