Dr. Namatovu Jane Frances

She is a lecturer in the Department of Family, School of Medicine, College of Health Sciences Makerere University Kampala. She teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students and serve as the postgraduate teaching coordinator in the Department of Family Medicine. She is a FAIMER fellow of the Southern Africa Faimer Regional Institute (SAFRI). She contributed to the academic leadership and management as Head of Department (2011 till 2019) through team work, role modelling, delegation and motivation. Together with colleagues at the Department she managed one small research grant that was funded by the MESAU-MEPI program. She has been involved in both clinical and community research especially with colleagues and students in the Department. She has also participated in graduate research supervision of students through the whole process of writing their dissertations and as a member of the School of Medicine Research and Ethics Committee (SOMREC). Her current research work funded by HEPI-SHSSU is focused on health professions’ education, specifically on continuing professional development in low resource settings.

She participated as a reviewer for the African Journal of Primary Health Care and Family Medicine, a peer reviewed journal focused on publishing articles on primary care and Family Medicine especially from the African context. She is also the current president of the Association of Family Physicians of Uganda.
