
Dr. Sam Ononge
Dr. Sam Ononge is a Senior Lecturer at Makerere University Kampala, College of Health Sciences in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He holds a Master’s degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and clinical epidemiology and he obtained PhD as a THRIVE fellow in 2017 at Makerere University. He is a practicing clinician at Kawempe National Referral and Teaching Hospital Kampala, Uganda and he is a distinguished leader in reproductive health research specifically in the reduction of maternal morbidity and mortality with a special interest in postpartum haemorrhage. His work is on low-cost intervention toward the reduction of maternal morbidity and mortality. Dr. Sam Ononge is a member of the faculty and he is a NURTURE fellow. He has expertise in designing health research studies, data management and analysis. He has twenty publications in international peer-reviewed journals and a number of these have impacted clinical practice globally. He has supervised twenty-four postgraduate students all to completion. He is currently supervising five masters and two Ph.D. students. Dr. Sam Ononge is a member of the Uganda National Safe Motherhood Executive Committee. He is also a member of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist of Uganda, and East-Central and South African Obstetric & Gynaecological Society.
