Associate Professor

Victor Musiime, MBChB, MMed, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health. He holds a PhD (Medical Sciences) of the University of Antwerp, Belgium; a Masters of Medicine (Paediatrics and Child Health) of Makerere University; and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery of Makerere University.

He supervises post graduate research (PhD and Master’s degrees); and provides clinical and didactic teaching for undergraduate and post graduate courses. In addition, he provides clinical care to children on the inpatient/outpatient wards of Mulago National Referral and Teaching Hospital, particularly the Infectious diseases ward, the emergency ward, and the gastrointestinal outpatient clinic. Since 2004, when he qualified as a Paediatrician, he has been actively conducting research in infectious diseases, especially in Paediatric HIVAIDS. His other research interests are in other childhood infectious diseases and nutrition. By December 2020, he had 85 peer reviewed scientific journal publications. In addition he serves on the following local and international committees: Paediatric ART and Paediatric TB committees of the Ministry of Health; National Formulary Committee of the National Drug Authority; Kawempe Home Care board; African Network for the Care of Children affected by HIV/AIDS (ANECCA) board; the World Health Organization (WHO) Paediatric AIDS working Group (PAWG). He is a past Vice President of the Uganda Paediatrics Association.
